What are we doing to make camp safe?
Although it's impossible to eliminate the risk of COVID-19, we are taking precautions to make your experience as safe as possible. Be mindful, suggestions and guidelines are subject to change based on the current recommendations of the CDC and NJ Department of Health. It will take the efforts of everyone to ensure camp can run successfully!

Policy and Procedures
Masks
We will follow local and state guidelines at the time of camp. Currently masks are optional but encouraged.
Social Distancing
Campers will maintain distance whenever possible as per current state guidelines.
Health Screening
Each day upon arrival, we will conduct a few short health screening questions. Each day, staff will also conduct health screening questions.
Reporting Procedure
Parents are asked to report any COVID related symptoms as soon as possible.
Campers who have symptoms or have had a "close contact" (see below) with any person who tested positive for COVID must remain home to quarantine.
Close contacts will be notified as necessary.
For 2 weeks after camp, notify BrainSTEM if you or another family member tests positive for COVID.
Facilities and Cleaning
Hand washing and sanitizing will be available and encouraged regularly.
Students will wash their hands before eating lunch or snacks.
Work spaces and equipment will be sanitized regularly.
A "deep clean" of the room, including tables, computers, door knobs, frequently touched surfaces and equipment will commence at the end of the day after campers leave.
HVAC units will be running with CDC recommended air filtration at all times.

What can you do?
- Campers and their families should not engage in activities that are considered higher risk for the transmission of COVID-19
- During the week(s) you attend camp, maintain social distancing and safe practices when at home
- Be mindful of large gatherings and activities that could put you and other campers at risk upon your return
- Maintain these safe practices 10 days prior to the start of camp
- If, during the 10 days prior to camp, a camper develops symptoms of COVID-19, or a person in the household develops symptoms of COVID-19, or comes in contact with a person known to have COVID-19, please contact the camp instructor immediately
- During the week(s) you attend camp, maintain social distancing and safe practices when at home
- Be mindful of large gatherings and activities that could put you and other campers at risk upon your return
- Maintain these safe practices 10 days prior to the start of camp
- If, during the 10 days prior to camp, a camper develops symptoms of COVID-19, or a person in the household develops symptoms of COVID-19, or comes in contact with a person known to have COVID-19, please contact the camp instructor immediately
Self evaluation and symptom checker
Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
Sore throat
Cough (for students with chronic cough due to allergies or asthma, a change in their cough from baseline)
Difficulty breathing (for students with asthma, a change from their baseline breathing)
Diarrhea or vomiting
New loss of taste or smell
New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
Are you feeling sick?
In the last two weeks, have you been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19? (excluding people who have had COVID-19 within the past 3 months)
You have been in close contact if you have;
a. been within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for a combined total of 15 minutes or more over a 24 hour period or
b. provided care at home to someone who is sick with COVID-19 or
c. had direct physical contact (hugged or kissed) with someone who has COVID-19 or
d. shared eating or drinking utensils with someone who has COVID-19 or
e. been sneezed on or coughed on by someone who has COVID-19
